  • Lock whole sheet from editing
  • Lock few cells only from editing

To lock few cells only, you will need to select all cell. Then format cells, and under the protection tab, you unlock all cells. This to make all cells editable when you protect the whole sheet. Afterwards, you lock only the cells you want to protect from editing. By this way, when you protect the whole sheet, the locked cells only will be protected, and the rest will be editable.

Steps:

  • Lock whole sheet from editing
    • Open excel file that you want to lock
    • Click on “Review” tab, “Protect Sheet”, enter password to protect the whole sheet, confirm the password again.

    • To unlock it, follow the same steps to unlock.

       

  • Lock few cells only from editing
    • Open the excel sheet.
    • Select all cells, right click on any cell, click on “Format Cells”
